Gregg Davidson, elected mayor of Mapleton in 2018, was acclaimed as mayor ahead of the 2022 municipal election and will serve for another four years.

MAPLETON - Two new councillors will join the fray in Mapleton.

Amanda Reid and Martin Tamlyn were able to claim two council seats in the 2022 municipal election.

Reid, a daycare provider, has lived in Mapleton for six years. Tamlyn is a teacher and a 22-year Mapleton resident. They replace Paul Douglas and Dennis Craven, who did not run this time around.

They will be joined by incumbents Marlene Ottens and Michael Martin, who claimed the most votes. Both Ottens and Martin have been on council since 2014.

  • Marlene Ottens: 852
  • Michael Martin: 793
  • Amanda Reid: 693
  • Martin Tamlyn: 648
  • Bill Sipes: 515
  • Erik Begg: 306

Gregg Davidson will lead the charge after he was acclaimed mayor. He will begin his second mandate after he defeated then-mayor Neil Driscoll by over 400 votes in 2018. Before that, Davidson was the Ward 2 councillor for Wellington County.

That seat is now occupied by Earl Campbell, after he defeated Frank Carere to get another four years in office.

Campbell was acclaimed to the position in 2018.
