Another thunderstorm warning issued for Wellington county

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Mount Forest - Arthur - Northern Wellington County
  • Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo

At 6:03 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Winterbourne to Damascus, moving east at 70 km/h.

Hazard:
90 km/h wind gusts. A tornado is also possible.

Severe thunderstorms will be near:
Orangeville around 6:20 p.m.
Forks of the Credit Provincial Park around 6:30 p.m.

Locations impacted include:
Orangeville, Fergus, Grand Valley, Erin, Halton Hills, Elora, Rockwood, Acton and Forks of the Credit Provincial Park.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
