BELWOOD – A local man has been sentenced to serve 25 years in American prison for his role in the death of a man in North Dakota.
Earl Roy Howard, 43, received his sentence on Monday after previously pleading guilty to four charges: conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to tamper with physical evidence and arson.
According to State of North Dakota court documents, Howard will be serving 25 years in prison and five years parole with 767 days credit for time served.
Howard was first charged in January 2020 for his involvement in the death of 42-year-old Chad Entzel in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Entzel was found by firefighters at the scene of a house fire on Jan. 2 and preliminary autopsy results showed he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Nickie Sue Entzel, wife of the victim, is co-accused in the case. She has pleaded not guilty and her court case is pending.
