BELWOOD – A developer is inviting the public out to learn more about its proposed redevelopment of a portion of the Fergus Golf Club.

On the evening of June 1 at the Belwood Hall, Geranium Homes is hosting a community information meeting regarding its plan to build 118 single detached homes on what is now a nine-hole golf course owned by Golf North at what is legally known as 8243, 8268 and 828 Wellington Road 19 on the south side.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with registration before moving onto a presentation from the developer and close with an opportunity for discussion and questions to the applicant and consultant team.

The developer proposes half-acre lots serviced by condominium roads and private communal water and wastewater facilities. The existing 18-hole golf course on the north side of Wellington Road 19 will be retained as part of the development.

Geranium has applied for a zoning bylaw amendment as the site was previously approved in the 1990s for 41 residential units.

A notice from Geranium stated this meeting is not the statutory public meeting as required by the Planning Act but is being organized on a volunteer basis to provide residents with an opportunity to learn about the proposal and ask questions.

That meeting does not have a date set yet.

Those interested in attending are asked to register by May 27 via email [email protected] or by telephone at (416)-347-9102.

The meeting is on June 1 at the Belwood Hall at 36 Queen St. in Belwood.
