Cyclist airlifted to hospital following Minto hit and run

Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle who hit a cyclist around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday

MINTO – Tuesday morning's road closure east of Clifford is a result of one person being seriously injured following a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.

Police say that at approximately 8:30 a.m., Wellington County OPP along with the Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services and local fire departments responded to a report of an injured cyclist on Wellington Road 2 at Regency Drive, Minto Township. 

Investigation determined that the cyclist had been struck by a motor vehicle which did not remain at the scene of the collision.

The cyclist, a 21-year-old from Clifford was transported to a trauma centre by Air Ornge with serious injuries. 

OPP are asking the driver of the motor vehicle involved in this collision to come forward and to speak to officers. 

Wellington County Road 2 will remain closed for several hours for the investigation.
