Pumpkin Day – A free family event is on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bissell Park, next to the Elora Farmers’ Market. This wonderful day is a celebration of the end of the harvest season and provides free children’s activities and entertainment for the whole family.
Family pumpkin carving with prizes, face-painting, an expert giant pumpkin carver, Mapleton Organic ice cream, bouncy castle, music from Turk and the Hobbitt, highland dancing, Bubbleology and a reptile show!
All free - with donations to the food bank welcome.
Sensational Soup-Off and Empty Bowls: Save the date - Thanksgiving, Monday, Oct. 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wellington County Museum. This is Sensational Elora’s signature event to combat food insecurity in Centre Wellington.
Over the first 12 years of Sensational Elora operations (pre-pandemic), they raised over $120,000 that was split between the Centre Wellington Foodbank and the Centre Wellington District High School breakfast program. Now, more than ever, food security is a local issue.
Do you make a great soup? Sensational Elora welcomes new volunteer soup-makers in all three categories: professional, amateur and youth to come out and strut your stuff. This is a fun way to share your soup skills with the community for a great cause. The winner of each category receives a beautiful one-of-kind hand made soup ladle from Metallic Evolution and, most importantly, the title of “Super Souper of the year.” Don’t wait - anyone interested in participating can sign up a Contests: Soup Off (sensationalelora.com).
