We're expecting to see a significant jump in gasoline prices overnight.

Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst with En-Pro International Inc., said the price of gas will rise by 8 cents per litre at midnight.

That will put the price at close to $1.75 per litre at most local stations.

Over the course of last week, prices dropped by 20 cents per litre.

According to CityNews business editor, Mike Eppel, the wholesale price for gasoline has gone up over the past few days. We are being impacted by weak valuation on the Canadian dollar and demand for gasoline also shot up once prices started dropping.

Meantime, in the United States, gas prices have dropped 57 days in a row. On average, the price is now $4 per gallon in the U.S.
