Good news for water lovers, the aquatic centre at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex will reopen Monday July 26. The township made the announcement in a Wednesday media release detailing a number of other program and service updates in response to the province entering Step 3 of its reopening plan.

“We are so close to being back to normal. Please continue to follow public health guidelines for a little bit longer,” Mayor Kelly Linton said in the release. “Encourage your family and friends to get vaccinated so we can get back to normal as soon as possible, and please remember to be kind to one another! Our staff are excited to welcome you back into our facilities and offer our residents the exceptional programs and services that we have all missed.”

Pre-registration for all activities at the CW Community Sportsplex, including the aquatic centre, is required.

Summer swimming lesson begin Aug. 23. Visit www.centrewellington.ca/aquatics for more information.

The township emphasized residents cannot walk into the sportsplex without pre-registering for a program or service because of the ongoing vaccination clinic.

Township Mossa Fitness classes began at the Elora Community Centre on Monday. These classes are available by pre-registering at www.centrewellington.ca/indoorrecreation

Day camps will continue to run and weeks have been added due to high demand.  Spots can be reserved at www.centrewellington.ca/daycamps.

Outdoor traditional sports play can resume, including games and league play. Sports groups must follow the Return to Action/Play guidelines as established by their sport’s governing body and the township.

Both the Elora Community Centre and Pad A at the CW Community Sportsplex will be available for private rentals beginning Monday, with protocols in place.

Outdoor gathering limits have increased to 100 people and outdoor fitness classes require a minimum of two metres physical distancing.

Staff are working on re-opening the Fergus Grand Theatre and the Victoria Park Senior Centre in mid to late September.
