GUELPH/WELLINGTON - The Wellington County Waves is planning to swim the combined distances of the Great Lakes, relay style.

On June 12, the Guelph-Wellington entire swim team will attempt to swim the combined distances across the Great Lakes at the University of Guelph’s swimming pool.

The team has created a GoFundMe page hoping to receive donations to help off-set the costs of pool rental fees and program expenses.

“Our goal is to raise $15,000 so we can continue to help shape our amazing young team into the athletes and contributing members of this special community they hope to be,” The Wellington County Waves stated on its GoFundMe page.

The Waves came into existence in early 2021 when some parents of swimmers who were members of the Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club decided to split with that organization.

To donate, visit the team’s GoFundMe page.
