After a successful 2022 event, Wellington County will proudly host the second annual Writers’ Festival at the Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) on Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Wellington County Museum and Archives has long been a gathering place for the community to celebrate our stories in Wellington County,” said Mary Lloyd, Wellington County Information, Heritage, and Seniors Committee Chair. “I am excited that the WCMA, in partnership with Wellington County Library, is welcoming writers from the County and our neighbouring municipalities to share their stories and inspire creativity.”

“While the inaugural event focused on Wellington County writers or subject matter, we’re excited to expand the event this year and welcome writers from our surrounding communities,” commented Wellington Place Administrator, Jana Burns. “We want to celebrate all types of writing and introduce the public to emerging and established authors from the region.”

The Festival celebrates writers from Wellington, Dufferin, Grey, Huron, and Perth Counties, as well as the City of Guelph and the Region of Waterloo.

The day's events include a book fair, writers’ talks, creative workshops, entertainment, and food trucks. Face painting and glitter tattoos will be available for kids, and other activities the whole family can enjoy, like straw weaving, bookmaking, story times and more.

The day will be emceed by award winning local fantasy writer Rio Youers with a keynote address by emerging local romance author Robin Lefler.
