ELORA – It’s the end of the road for the Elora Rocks as the team has been knocked out of the Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) playoffs.

Elora had to win at least one game over the weekend as the team was 0-2 in a best-of-seven series against the Stratford Fighting Irish.

On home ice Friday, the Rocks fell short and lost 4-2. The match started evenly with both teams scoring a goal in the first period before Stratford pulled ahead with two goals in the second period.

Another goal a piece for each team in the third period secured the win for Stratford putting Elora in a must win situation to have a chance to move on to the finals.

The Rocks couldn’t pull it off and lost in Stratford in another 4-2 match. The Fighting Irish took the lead early with two goals in the first period leaving Elora unable to catch-up despite registering two goals in the second and third period. Stratford got two more of its own in the third period, securing a spot in the playoff finals.

This means there will be a new WOSHL championship team. Elora Rocks won the previous year’s inaugural playoffs over the Tillsonburg Thunder.

Stratford will be up against either Tilsonburg or the Tilbury Bluebirds. Right now, those teams are moving on to Game 5 with the series at 3-1 for the Bluebirds.
