WELLINGTON COUNTY – In the Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) playoffs, one Wellington County team is moving on while it’s the end of the road for the other.

The Elora Rocks swept the Alvinston Killer Bees winning three-in-a-row of a best-of-five series.

Elora finished the series on Friday with a dominant 7-3 win on home ice. Alvinston got the first goal of the game but the Rocks answered back with five straight goals to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Despite the best efforts of the Erin Blitz, the team came up short against the Stratford Fighting Irish and were eliminated in Game 4.

The Blitz were in a must-win situation going into the weekend, having lost two the previous weekend, and did pull off a 5-1 victory on Saturday to stay in playoff contention.

But a home game on Sunday would be Erin’s last of the playoffs with Stratford winning 6-2 to eliminate the Blitz.

This was the Blitz first season and playoffs, joining WOSHL in its second season alongside three other teams to make it a nine-team league.

Elora Rocks were part of the five original teams when the league formed and were the first playoff champions.
