ELORA – The Elora Rocks gave the Erin Blitz an icy welcome to the Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) in a dominating performance.

Elora, last season’s WOSHL champions, ended up way ahead on the scoreboard early at Friday evening’s season opener, finishing the match 15-2 over Erin who played its first match since joining the league.

The Rocks started early, scoring eight unanswered goals until midway through the second period when Erin Blitz’s Clayton Peterek scored the team’s first official goal.

That goal however didn’t appear to give the team much goal scoring momentum beyond one additional goal in the third period as Elora put away seven more to cruise to a victory.

Elora’s next home game is Friday against the Alvinston Killer Bees at 8:30 p.m.

Erin will get another chance when the teams face-off again on Oct. 15 at its home opener at the Centre 2000.
