Tough weeekend for Blitz and Rocks

Both teams were winless this weekend

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Both Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) based out of Wellington County came up short over the weekend. 

Elora Rocks and Erin Blitz both lost on the road Saturday. 

Erin was up against the Stratford Fighting Irish at the William Allman arena where the team was shutout 8-0.

Stratford was in control of the game, putting 55 shots on net compared to Erin’s 17. 

Erin also lost at home the following day to the Tillsonburg Thunder 6-4.

Erin remains without a win this season with seven losses and is ranked last in the standings.

It was a little closer for Elora in its match against the Alvinston Killer Bees which went to overtime. Elora caught up in the second period after being down 3-0 by delivering three unanswered goals in a row themselves including two in under a minute by the Rocks’ Spencer Gourlay. 

However, Alvinston put away that game winning goal in overtime finishing the match at 4-3. 

Elora is ranked second in the league with six wins and two losses. 

Erin Blitz will be at home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against the first ranked Tilbury Bluebirds. 

Elora is on the road for a Friday evening game against the Strathroy Jets.
