It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of a beloved wife, mother, nanny, sister and friend. Heather Anne Casciato (O’Brien) died peacefully on the morning of Tuesday July 20, 2022 at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville, Ontario. Heather had struggled with health challenges for the past few years which only demonstrates her courage, strength and resiliency. Heather’s grandchildren were the absolute light of her life. Savanna, Jasmine, Bella, Avery, Tye and Jayden could not have made her more proud. She leaves behind her loving husband Bill of 47 years and her children Lori and Kelly (Ryan) whom she loved fiercely.

Heather passed away peacefully with her husband Bill and daughter Kelly by her side and her daughter Lori sending love from afar. Heather was the youngest in a large, loving Irish family. She is survived by siblings Sharon (Barry), Terry (Cindy), Dan (Joan) and Maureen (Jim) and sisters-in-law Nora and Rina. She was also the loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Heather was predeceased by sisters Mary, Mary Ellen, Pat, Lois and brothers Harold, Paul and brother-in-law Russ. She also joins her parents Mabel and Harold and in-laws Joe and Lottie in heaven.

Heather worked for many years at Ontario Hydro in accounting but it was her job working with adolescents at Portage Ontario that brought her joy and allowed her to help others with her kindness, empathy and warm heart. She also worked alongside her sister Mauree at Curves for Women which led her to own her own Curves franchise. Heather had a zest for life and loved to make people feel welcome. She was a great cook and would insist on feeding anyone who walked through her door. She was our greatest cheerleader and our biggest supporter and we will remember her with love in our hearts and smiles on our faces.

Friends and family are invited to say a final goodbye to Heather on Monday, July 25 at Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus. A visitation will take place at 1pm followed by a celebration of life at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children as Sick Kids holds a special place for our family.
