Laurie Ellen Hotson, born October 11, 1957, passed away at Guelph General Hospital on June 11, 2022. She was survived by her loving partner Mike McManus, mother Isabel Hotson (nee Wheeler), daughter Janna, her brothers Ed (Kim), Mark, Chris (Julie) and sister Carole (Liane) Hotson. Grandmother to Ethan, Daelin and Max; aunt to Sarah, Patrick, Jamie, Allister, Ben, Jake and Maddie; great aunt to Mason and Axton; niece to Shirley (Vince) and Edna; and close friend to Nancy Harreitha-Ward, Brad (Sandy), and Charlene (Doug). Laurie is predeceased by her nephew Justin, grandson Jacob and father Edward Hotson.

Laurie was born in Fergus. As a young adult she spent a short time in Toronto, and then returned to Fergus. Laurie was always trying to bring beauty to the world, through her craft work and her lovely gardens. She loved nature, walking throughout her hometown of Fergus and feeding the birds. Her family and friends were always amazed at her ability to find a perfect gift for each person.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, July 5th from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus. We invite all of Laurie’s family and friends to join us.

Cremation has taken place, with private interment to be held at a later date.

Donations are requested to be directed to the Fergus and District Horticultural Society, in Laurie’s name.
