Ontario reports 172 new COVID-19 cases, two new deaths

TORONTO — Ontario is reporting 172 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths.

There are 48 new cases in Toronto, 23 in Peel Region, 11 in Durham Region and 11 in Hamilton.

Those cases were found among 13,900 tests completed in the previous day.

There are 127 people in intensive care units with critical COVID-related illness and 81 people on ventilators.

No new cases were reported among residents or health-care workers in long-term care homes.

More than 103,000 doses of vaccines were administered over the previous day, for a total of nearly 19 million.
