Accused charged in Minto collision investigation

TOWN OF MINTO - On April 29, 2021 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 109 near Beehive Lane in the Town of Minto involving a northbound sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a southbound pickup truck.

Police spoke with the driver of the SUV and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

On June 6, 2021, officers concluded their investigation and as a result Cy Andrew Emerson, 30 years old of Rothsay, has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.
