Driver charged during early Sunday RIDE check in Harriston

A 33 year-old from York is facing charges

On October 27, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Elora Street South, Harriston.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, a 33 year-old from York, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, On November 5, 2024.
