On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wellington County detachment along with the Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Trafalgar Road at Wellington Road 124 in the Town of Erin.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a passenger vehicle collided with a tractor trailer in the intersection. The driver of the passenger vehicle was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to hospital. The second driver was not injured.
On May 29, 2021, the driver of the passenger vehicle, 84-year-old John Benjamin from Mississauga, Ont. was pronounced deceased in hospital by attending physicians.
