OPP charge numerous motorists across Wellington County

On Nov. 17, at approximately 3 p.m., Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black sport utility vehicle on Watson Road South, Puslinch. As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old from Flamborough has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 m/ blood), contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice in Guelph at a later date.

On Nov. 19, at approximately 5 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Wellington Road 35, Flamborough Township. It was reported a grey sedan was in the ditch. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old from Puslinch has been charged with impaired operation and failure or refusal to comply with demand, contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the operator was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor, contrary to the liquor Licence Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice in Guelph at a later date.

On Nov. 20, at approximately 11 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black coupe on College Avenue East, Guelph. As a result of an investigation, an 18-year-old driver from Guelph was charged with two counts of driving while suspended, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court in Guelph, at a later date.

On Nov. 22, Wellington County OPP responded to multiple bylaw complaints on streets in Centre Wellington. It was reported that numerous vehicles had been parked on roads between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. and that those vehicles were impeding the removal of snow from the roadway. As a result of the investigation, 55 vehicles had been served with certificate of parking infractions for parking 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. (Nov. 1 to March 31).

On Nov. 23, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, Mapleton. At approximately 1:15 p.m., a grey sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 80 km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old driver from Guelph was charged with “drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed,” contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court in Guelph, at a later date.

On Nov. 23, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a white pickup truck on Wellington Road 109, near Arthur. As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old driver from Belwood has been charged with suspended driving and driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Further, the driver was also charged with operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court in Guelph at a later date.  

On Nov. 23, at approximately 9 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Waterloo Street, Mount Forest. It was reported that a black sedan was being driven erratically. As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old from Priceville has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 m/ blood), two counts of dangerous driving and break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice in Guelph at a later date.
