Orangeville traffic stop leads to charges for Arthur resident

ORANGEVILLE – An Arthur resident is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Orangeville. 

Dufferin OPP reported on Wednesday a street crime unit stopped a driver for a highway traffic act offense in Orangeville. Officers were led into a criminal investigation which resulted in charging the driver with multiple charges. 

A 32-year-old from Arthur has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime - Under $5000 - Criminal Code
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Methamphetamine - Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
  • Drive vehicle of boat with cannabis readily available - The Cannabis Act
  • Fail to comply with probation order - Criminal Code
  • Possession of forged document with intent - Criminal Code
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code - Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension - Highway Traffic Act
  • Use plate not authorized - Highway Traffic Act

Police also seized methamphetamine, over $1,000 in Canadian currency, a cell phone, cannabis, forged driver's license and unauthorized vehicle plates.

The accused was transported to the Dufferin OPP detachment and held pending a bail hearing.
