Suspicious person call leads to recovery of stolen kayaks, 2 arrests

The two individuals were also found in a vehicle that was taken without consent

On May 2, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious person on George Street, Arthur. Officers responded to the area and located a person with a vehicle and also with property including two kayaks that had previously been reported as stolen. Further investigation determined that the motor vehicle involved had been taken without consent. 

As a result of the investigation, [a 30-year-old] of Arthur has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a Schedule 1 Substance - methamphetamine, and with occupant of motor vehicle taken without consent. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 30, 2023. 

[A 30-year-old] of East-Garafraxa Township has been charged with take motor vehicle without consent and was held pending a bail hearing.
