Trial dates have been set for a 31-year-old Tara man accused of impaired driving in a crash that killed a Fergus man nearly a year ago.

Four dates have been set aside for Micheal Shular’s trial, beginning April 28, 2025. The other dates are scheduled in June of next year.

He is charged with impaired operation causing death, dangerous driving causing death, obstructing a peace officer, two counts of driving under suspension and possession of a controlled substance.

According to court documents, Shular was allegedly impaired by drugs at the time.

The charges stem from a two-vehicle crash on Dec. 29, 2023 on Highway 6, south of Wellington Road 22.

OPP say a pickup truck and SUV collided head-on around 10:30 a.m.

Dave Genereaux, a 40-year-old Fergus man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shular suffered minor injuries.
