Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On April 20, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a blue Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) on Highway 9, Minto. As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old driver from Ayton was charged with drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act (C.C.A.).

On April 20, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a grey automobile on York Street, Eden Mills. As a result of the investigation, a 57-yea-old driver from Rockwood was charged with disobey stop sign - fail to stop and drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.). Further the driver was charged with Fail to Surrender Insurance Card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (C.A.I.A.).

On April 20, 2023, members of the Wellington County OPP initiated a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on St David Street South, Fergus. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the driver of a white pick-up truck entered the check. As a result of the investigation a 31-year-old Belwood man has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on June 16, 2023.

On April 21, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Brock Road South, Puslinch. At approximately 8:45 p.m., a yellow sedan was observed travelling above the poster 50km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old driver from Stoney Creek has been charged with speeding - community safety zone and class G1 licence holder - carry front-seat passenger, contrary to the H.T.A.

On April 22, 2023, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a silver S.U.V. on Sligo Road East, Mount Forest. As a result of the investigation, an 83-year-old driver from Mount Forest was charged with driving while under suspension contrary to the H.T.A. The Defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on July 19, 2023.

On April 22, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black sedan on St Andrew Street East, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, a 54-year-old resident of Guelph, has been charged with drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit and drive motor vehicle - no licence, contrary to the H.T.A. Further, the driver was also charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the C.A.I.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph on July 19, 2023.

On April 23, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black S.U.V. on Wellington Road 109, Wellington North. As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old resident of St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, was charged with drive motor vehicle - not equipped with ignition interlock device, drive motor vehicle - No Licence, Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on July 19, 2023.

On April 23, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a silver pickup on Wellington Road 109, Wellington North. As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old resident of Guelph, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit and Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle, contrary to the H.T.A. Further, the driver was also charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the C.A.I.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph on July 19, 2023

On April 23, 2023, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a green sedan on Smith Street, Arthur. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old driver from Arthur, was charged with Colour Coating Obscuring Interior and No Muffler - Motor Vehicle, contrary to the H.T.A.

On April 24, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP initiated a commercial motor vehicle inspection of a van and trailer on Charles Allan Way, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old driver from Belle River face numerous H.T.A. charges including Overweight Vehicle - Violate Permit, Operate Vehicle - Fail to Display Inspection Sticker or Proof and No Muffler - Motor Vehicle. A total of eight violation were identified.

On April 24, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a red sedan on Highway 6, Guelph/Eramosa. As a result of the investigation a 26-year-old Fergus man has been charged with Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (B.A.C.) (80 plus), contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on May 16, 2023.

On April 25, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP initiated a commercial motor vehicle inspection of a dump-truck on Township Road 3, Guelph/Eramosa. As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old driver from Caledon face numerous H.T.A. charges including Overweight on Axle, Over Wight on Tire and Insecure Load. A total of 16 violations were identified.

On April 25, 2023, at approximately 11 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a grey pick-up truck on Woodlawn Road West, Guelph. As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old driver from Guelph was charged with driving while under suspension and insecure load, contrary to the H.T.A. The Defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on July 19, 2023.

On April 25, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black sedan on Willow Road, Guelph. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old driver from Orangeville was charged with driving while under suspension and drive motor vehicle - no currently validate permit, contrary to the H.T.A. The Defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on July 19, 2023.

On April 25, 2023, a member of the Wellington Count OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7, Pilkington. At approximately 2:45 p.m., a blue pick-up truck was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old driver from Elora, was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed contrary to the H.T.A. and Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act (L.L.C.A.) The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph on July 19, 2023.

On April 26, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black S.U.V. on 8th Line, Minto. As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old driver from Clifford was charged Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the H.T.A. and Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the C.A.I.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph on July 19, 2023.

On April 26, 2023, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a white sedan on Main Street, Palmerston. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old driver from Listowel was charged Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph on July 19, 2023.

Anyone charged with operation while impaired- 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or failing to comply with demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

Anyone charged with drive motor vehicle - perform stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension as per statute.
