WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington OPP report Pride decorations are being targeted in multiple vandalism incidents over June in north Wellington County.
In a Twitter video, Wellington OPP spokesperson Joshua Cunningham said the police are investigating a series of mischiefs to Pride decorations in Minto, Mapleton and North Perth.
Cunningham said on Saturday June 4 at approximately 10 p.m., unknown suspects allegedly damaged and removed a number of Pride ribbons hung on light standards on Main Street in Palmerston.
The following weekend, Cunningham said schools in Moorefield, Harriston and Drayton all had Pride flags removed and damaged.
On Saturday June 12, Cunningham said the ribbons on the light standards in Palmerston were destroyed again as well as similar ones in Harriston.
That same night a Pride flag was damaged in Listowel.
The video posted to Twitter features surveillance footage of the alleged incidents.
