Wrap-up of area OPP Highway Traffic Act charges

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On Sept. 22, 2022, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the operator of a black pick-up truck on Frederick Street East, Arthur. As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old driver from Georgetown, has been charged with Suspended Driving, Use Plate Unauthorized and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court - Guelph, at a later date.

On Sept. 25, 2022, at approximately 2 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the operator of a blue sedan on Victoria Road North, Guelph. As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Guelph man has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph, at a later date. 

On Sept. 25, 2022, members of Wellington County OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Anywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Wellington Road 18, west of Fergus. At approximately 11:15 p.m., the driver of a white Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) entered the check. As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Fergus man has been charged with Impaired Operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph, at a later date. 

On Sept. 26, 2022, a member the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Elora Street North, Clifford. At approximately 4:45 p.m., a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old driver from Walkerton, was charged with Speeding, use Plates not Authorized for Vehicle and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court - Guelph, at a later date.
