Town of Erin mayoral candidate Rob Smith

EloraFergusToday asked candidates in the upcoming municipal election to tell us a little bit about themselves and their platform.

Name: Rob Smith

Occupation: Owner of Erin Auto Recyclers

How long have you lived in Erin?: 22 years.

Why are you running in this election? Because I'm passionate about the place I call home and the people that live here.

What qualifies you to represent Erin? Having served on council for the past eight years has given me the experience and knowledge to take this next step.

Why should people vote for you? I have done my best to help keep the people of this town informed and will continue to do so as I have over the past eight years.

What do you see as the main issues facing residents of Erin on a broader scale? That would be the challenges of servicing and the growth of our town.

What is the most important thing you want to see changed in Erin? How the town communities to its citizens to keep them informed.

What services need to be improved in Erin? I would have to say the internet service is a priority.

Is Erin growing too fast, just the right amount, or not fast enough? Being at the beginning phase of growth makes for an interesting question. At this point I would say just the right amount.

What can be done at the local level about the rising cost of housing? We have been very proactive with garden suites and auxiliary uses and as full services become available more options will follow.

Do you support building the wastewater treatment plant? Yes I do, as I believe it was long overdue.

How do we make Erin an even better place to live? A connected trails system and more people becoming involved in our community by volunteering.
