Upcoming municipal candidate events across Wellington County

Constituents have a chance to hear from mayoral, council and school board candidates

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Constituents across Wellington County will get a chance to hear from municipal candidates on why they deserve their vote. 

Multiple candidate events or debates are taking place across the municipalities.

Wellington North

On Thursday evening, there is a Wellington North debate  being held at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex lower leisure hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a question period and meet and greet. Seating is limited and there is a live stream available on Facebook.

Guelph/Eramosa

An all candidates meeting is being held Thursday evening at the Marden Community Centre at 7368 Wellington Rd. 30. The event is scheduled to go from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Erin

On Tuesday, an Erin all candidates meeting is set for the Erin Legion from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Included will be a chance to meet mayoral, councillor and school trustee candidates, a live Q&A with questions collected in advance, and an update from acclaimed county councillor Jeff Duncan. 

Venue capacity is limited and attendance is on a first come, first serve basis. Livestream and radio alternatives will be publicized at a later date.

Centre Wellington 

Two upcoming candidate events are scheduled in the Township of Centre Wellington. 

Tuesday will see a mayoral debate at the GrandWay Events Centre in Elora at 7445 Wellington Rd. 21. Township and county candidates will also be available at the event for conversation. This is scheduled to go from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Oct. 12, Architectural Conservancy Ontario is hosting a heritage focused debate at the Knox Presbyterian Church from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Centre Wellington Black Committee is also hosting a mayor’s debate on Oct. 13 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Pentecostal Church at 7674 Colborne St. Elora. 

Puslinch

An all candidates event will be held on Oct. 5 starting at 7 p.m. at the Puslinch Community Centre.

Mapleton

On Oct. 6, there will be a debate featuring Mapleton candidates at the Alma Community Centre at 51 Simpson St. E. The event begins at 7 p.m.
