EloraFergusToday, readers and local businesses donate $2,625 to Big Brothers Big Sisters

Summer is meant to be a fun time for kids.

But without services provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters, some youth in our community may not have the opportunity to engage in mentorship programs that are crucial for youth development.

With this in mind, EloraFergusToday embarked on a campaign to raise much-needed funds for our local Big Brothers Big Sisters branch with an online fundraising drive - and we asked you, our loyal readers, to help us.

The online fundraiser was simple. EloraFergusToday pledged to match community donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters made through our online pop-up store. 

But that’s not all.

We were able to leverage the power of our community to make the donations even bigger by asking our local business partners to match our donation.

Jeni Mobile Wash, JR Security Solutions, MB Cleaning, Schooley - Mitchell and The Mortgage Group - Roger Hicks all answered the call.

With their support, and yours, every dollar donated through our pop-up store was matched with all proceeds going to our local Big Brothers Big Sisters.

In Elora and Fergus, the generosity of our readers and advertisers translated into a donation of $1,500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
