CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington is going to have to dig into its pockets to pay for a new fire truck.
A brand new fire pumper truck for the township is coming in at $1.09 million, $160,000 more than was budgeted for according to a report.
A request for proposal was for the township to buy one new current year pumper truck with an enclosed side pump panel with brand new equipment to go with it.
The report recommends awarding the tender to the highest scoring bidder, Dependable Emergency Vehicles, at $1.09 million excluding HST.
“It is recommended that if council is supportive of this award that council directs staff to fund the shortfall of $167,375 from the general capital reserve,” the report said.
This pumper truck is earmarked to replace an older one that will be kept for training purposes and act as an emergency replacement vehicle if needed.
