WELLINGTON COUNTY – There will be multiple eclipse-related events leading up to and beyond the big day at the Wellington County libraries and museum.

Danielle Drimmie, programming and information services librarian with Wellington County said via email there will be no viewing events taking place at library branches but some will be hosting craft programs where children can make a solar eclipse projector from a shoe box.

Three events will take place Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Harriston branch, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fergus branch and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Marden branch.

The Mount Forest branch will be holding this event the day of the eclipse, on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Also on Monday, the Wellington County Museum and Archives will be hosting a drop-in crafts and activity event related to the eclipse at Aboyne Hall.

“The eclipse will affect the Elora side of the museum building and not where activities are taking place, we'll put on a live stream of the eclipse to ensure their eyes are protected,” said Jana Burns, Wellington Place administrator, in an email.

That week the museum will be hosting space week in partnership with Royal City Science with U of G physics department students on site with three different activity stations: rocket launching, a rover landing and a full sized planetarium set-up inside.
