FERGUS – A local service club’s biggest annual fundraiser is making its return in Fergus.
The Fergus Lions Club Home and Leisure Show kicks off Wednesday evening at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex. This is the 43rd annual exhibition after being cancelled for the past two years.
For three days, local vendors and ones from nearby cities will show what they have for the home and garden enthusiast.
Margaret Murray, Fergus Lions Club president, said this show is normally the club’s main fundraiser that allows them to do the work they do for the community.
“This is where all of our people get all of our donations from,” Murray said. “We help the community as much as we can, so it’s good to have it back after a two year hiatus.”
Because the club wasn’t able to plan and organize as early as they normally would, Murray said the show is slightly smaller than previous years but it’s better than having no booths at all.
The president said they are trying some new ideas this year, one is having more activities for children and a variety of food trucks to have a meal before you browse a wide assortment of different vendors and booths.
“It’s quite a mix and we are looking forward to it this year and hopefully it will be much, much bigger next year,” Murray said. “But we’re doing pretty good this year.”
There is no charge for entry but Murray asked people to bring a food donation for the CW Food Bank.
This event runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
