NEWS RELEASE
GRAND RIVER CONSERVATION AUTHORITY
*************************
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is terminating the flood warning message previously in effect. A flood watch remains in place for the entire Grand River Watershed due to the elevated river flows and forecast weather conditions.

The weather that moved through the Grand River watershed over the weekend resulted in 35-70 mm of rainfall and additional melting of the remaining snowpack. While river flows are receding from this event, they will remain elevated through the week.

An additional 30-50 mm of rain is currently forecast over the next three days, with most of the rain expected to fall on Wednesday. There is also the potential for localized thunderstorms, which may result in additional rainfall and increases the uncertainty surrounding this event. Conditions are being monitored closely and updates will be issued as necessary.

GRCA reservoirs

GRCA reservoirs are at their normal level for this time of year and will be operated to manage the runoff and mitigate downstream flooding during this event.

Stay safe

Banks adjacent to local waterways are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from all water bodies. Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with local municipal flood response programs and be prepared for flooding due to the elevated risk at this time.

This message will be in effect until Thursday April 6, 2023 and will be updated as needed.
