Guelph amateur photographer Raghuvamsh Chavali is at it again.

Noted for his wonderful shots of the night sky, Chavali was out Thursday capturing the Geminid Meteor Shower near Orangeville.

He used his Sony A7III and Tamron 24mm f2.8, to shoot this spectacular event with an ISO of 4000 and shutter speed of four seconds. The finished image is a composite of 600 photos.

"I was lost in a universe of flashing lights from 9 p.m. to 12:15 a.m, with every frame narrating a different tale. It was difficult to try to take pictures of the whole sky because the meteors kept popping up in unexpected places. The night wasn't without its challenges; slogging through clouds and wind made the celestial chase even more challenging," Chavali told GuelphToday via email.

"I used a tripod to make sure every photo was clear, which allowed me to select and combine the meteors almost 600 separate shots to produce a composite image. The end result was an enthralling work of art with the bright Geminids set against a charming rustic barn for an extra dose of charm."

Chavali said the meteor shower demonstrated the wonders of space close to home.
