Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington is looking to connect with more families in Fergus, Elora and surrounding communities who are looking for ways to get into home ownership.

Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington is stepping up to offer solutions for people to get into home ownership. The organization is looking to connect with more families in Fergus, Elora and surrounding communities.

"With everything that is happening in the world today, we see the range of people in need of affordable housing options growing – from nurses, to carpenters, entrepreneurs and electricians," saaid a news release. "These are all people who are crucial to the success and wellbeing of our communities. Finding housing opportunities for our families to put down roots and invest in our communities as longterm residents is something that makes us all stronger. The responsibility rests with us all to build the communities we want to live in, and housing is a fundamental platform to build strength and resilience."

Habitat for Humanity has been building homes in Guelph and Wellington County for close to 30 years, but the need today is greater than ever before. With 32 units being built in Fergus, and over 200 units in planning or underway over the next three-five years, Habitat for Humanity is growing to meet this demand, the release added. Even if you think you may not qualify for a home, Habitat is encouraging you to reach out through the website, fill out the eligibility questionnaire, and they will follow up.

“We’ve heard from so many families already, who are looking to build a future through Habitat. As we grow the number of housing options for our community, we also need to connect with more and more local families in need of housing”, says Kathryn Stokes, Manager of Housing Partnerships. “We are accepting applications for housing not just for today, but for future projects as well, and its important to us that we’re connecting with people in the communities we’re working in. If we start connecting with families today, we can better work with them to connect them to the housing options they need.”
