Campers will need to wait a while longer before pitching their tents at Grand River Conservation Area (GRCA) parks.

Camping was not included in outdoor recreational amenities reopening this long weekend such as golf or tennis.

Cameron Linwood, GRCA spokesperson, confirmed by email recreational camping is not permitted until Ontario enters Step One of the Roadmap to Reopen plan announced Thursday.

Linwood previously told GuelphToday long weekends are often the most actively booked dates for campsites at GRCA parks.

A press release from the province states they expect to enter Step One after 60 per cent of Ontarians have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.

“Based on current trends in key health indicators, including the provincial vaccination rate, the government expects to enter Step One of the Roadmap the week of June 14, 2021,” the press release states.
