ERIN – A contentious Hillsburgh development proposal will be back before the public.

Blackthorne Development Corporation's revised pitch for a nearly 130-acre piece of land, known as 63 and 63A Trafalgar Road, will be the subject of a public meeting on the evening of May 9.

The number of confirmed housing units has changed since it was last before a statutory public meeting, that time for an official plan amendment and this time for a zoning bylaw amendment.

This proposed subdivision would see 662 confirmed residential units made up of 376 singles, 218 traditional townhouses and 68 back-to-back townhouse units. The revised pitch also includes various blocks of future development for an unspecified number of seniors’ housing units in both apartments and low-rise buildings.

Previously, the plan had nearly 800-units of singles and townhouses.

The past public meeting held in June 2023 saw over 50 residents share concerns about housing density, parking, infrastructure and green spaces.

The meeting will be held at the Hillsburgh Community Centre at 95 Trafalgar Rd. at 6:30 p.m. on May 9. Those looking to speak at the meeting are encouraged to register in advance with the town clerk by emailing [email protected]
