CENTRE WELLINGTON – A young girl from Elora now has an even bigger legacy at SickKids Hospital with a research fund named officially after her.

Team Addy announced on Facebook a sarcoma research fund set up at the children’s hospital has officially been renamed as the Team Addy Sarcoma Research fund.

Team Addy is a charity organization aimed at raising awareness and funds for sarcoma cancer research started by Elora’s Addison Hill, better known as Addy, and her family following her cancer diagnosis at 13 years old in 2021.

The Elora girl was known for keeping a positive attitude in the face of the diagnosis but died just days after her fourteenth birthday in the summer of 202

Team Addy has continued to fundraise towards Dr. David Malkin’s, Addy’s oncologist, sarcoma cancer research fund which is now named after her.

“This is a huge milestone and a testament to the incredible impact that we have made together,” Team Addy wrote on Facebook. “It’s hard to believe that two years ago, Addy sat in that hospital bed, full of determination to start fundraising. Her grit and tenacity to never give up hope was awe inspiring!”

A SickKids fundraiser page said there has been $367,198 for the fund to date.

The third annual Team Addy Family Fun Day will be held on July 13 at the Centre Wellington District High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The fundraiser event will feature games, prizes, face painting, food and drink, vendors, live music, a basketball tournament and more.
