Saturday, April 6 is National Tartan Day, and as part of the Tartan Day festivities being held in downtown Fergus all weekend long the Fergus Grand Theatre is pleased to present Dufflebag Theatre’s version of MacBeth on April 6 at 2 p.m.

“This is for the Wee ones!” says theatre coordinator Eric Goudie. “This show is going to be a lot of fun for the young and the young-at-heart.”

Formed in 1992, the “nearly world famous” Dufflebag Theatre has been to the Fergus Grand stage many, many times, and an entire generation of children in Centre Wellington have grown up watching their shows.

The company adapts fairy tales, classic children’s stories and even Shakespeare into fun, family-friendly extravaganzas, with most of the performances made up live and, on the spot, starring members of the audience!

The theatre’s staff and volunteers are especially excited to see Mya Leworthy as one of the Dufflebag company actors. Leworthy grew up performing on the Grand Theatre stage, and now works at the theatre as a house manager, at least when she’s not touring across Canada as a professional actor, performing in Dufflebag shows.

This show is the fifth and final offering in the Fergus Grand Theatre’s 2023-24 youth presenting series, and just one part of an entire weekend of shows and festivities taking place in downtown Fergus to celebrate all things Tartan.

Tickets are $35 each for adults, $25 for children 12 and under, and are available by calling the box office at 519-787-1981, or online at fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
