The Grove Wellington Guelph is looking for more Youth Ambassadors to help address the mental health crisis.

They create a safe space for youth using The Grove’s services and assisting in navigating the site’s various resources and staff. "As effective communicators and leaders, youth ambassadors will facilitate conversations with youth in a meaningful way," a news release said.

Youth ambassadors oversee the drop-in programs at each of The Groves sites, ensuring there is always a friendly face. They provide tours of the facilities, engage in peer-to-peer support and participate in programming including workshops and events. More ambassadors are needed to help better engage youth who are looking to access mental health, wellness, skills and recreation programming.

"Youth ambassadors also play a key role in the strategic development of the organization's podcast and contribute to The Grove's equity, diversity, Inclusion and Indigenous reconciliation framework," the release added.

The Grove’s goal of building bright futures for local youth also extends to its ambassadors. Being a youth ambassador can open the door to new experiences and opportunities, such as mentorship experience, leadership opportunities, growth in their interpersonal relationships and other responsibilities.

“As a youth ambassador with The Grove, I have the wonderful and unique opportunity to meaningfully engage with youth, guiding them through the resources and services available to them through our sites,” said Amy Weston. “Connecting with youth has been such a rewarding experience, and has changed my perspective on mental health, wellness and the importance of accessible resources for youth.”
