TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON

The Township is inviting members of the public to serve on various advisory committees. These appointments give citizens from a variety of backgrounds, an opportunity to volunteer and participate as a member of an advisory committee. Apart from the Committee of Adjustment, these appointments are voluntary, and no remuneration is awarded. The term of appointment will run until Dec. 31, 2026.
“Serving on an advisory committee is a meaningful way to get involved and make an impact in your community,” said Mayor Watters. “Advisory members provide advice to Council and staff on issues important to the public and will assist Council in creating a diverse and inclusive community.”
Advisory committees fulfil a variety of mandates and make recommendations to Council. Most advisory committees include members of the public, as well as members of Council. Council relies on Advisory Committees to provide recommendations on pertinent issues throughout the municipality and draws on the expertise of citizen volunteer members.
Positions on the following committees are currently available:
- Heritage Centre Wellington
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee
- Committee of Adjustment
- Fenceviewers
- Livestock Investigator
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Committee is a new advisory body established by Council and staff. The committee will provide support to staff in the drafting and implementation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan and shall provide recommendations, advice and information to Council and staff on matters pertaining to DEI.
Following Council’s strategic planning exercise (April/May 2023), additional advisory committees may be established, and recruitment initiated later this spring.
Persons interested in serving on the Committees are asked to submit a self-nomination form prior to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023. More information on positions available and self-nomination forms are available here.
