Tractor trailer loses coils, blocking traffic on Hwy. 7

Incident occurred on Highway 7 at Wellington Road 32, west of Guelph

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA — On June 23, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to traffic hazard on Highway 7 at Wellington Road 32, west of Guelph. Initial reports indicated that a turning tractor trailer had lost two coils of steel onto the roadway and was blocking traffic.

As a result of an investigation, Wellington OPP Traffic Management Unit has charged a 45-year-old driver from Kingsville with Insecure Load and Failing to Complete Daily Inspection Reports contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. As a result of further investigation, a business from South Woodslee, Ontario, has been charged with Permit Person to Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle not in Accordance with Regulation and Operate with Load not Secure as Prescribed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Traffic was delayed while equipment was brought in to move the debris.
