Wellington North remuneration up $5k but below budget

The mayor and council were paid nearly $117,000 in salary, benefits and expenses

WELLINGTON NORTH – Salaries, benefits and expenses paid to Wellington North council were up a little bit in 2022.

As required by the municipal act, a remuneration report on what Wellington North’s mayor and councillors were paid in 2022 has been released. 

The total amount paid out last year was nearly $117,000, up from $112,000 in 2021. 

Mayor Andy Lennox was paid about $32,500 in total.

Councillors Sherry Burke, Lisa Hern and Steve McCabe all took home around $21,000 in salary, benefits and expenses. 

Former councillor Dan Yake, defeated when he ran for mayor, was paid $19,300.

New councillor Penny Renken was paid about $1,600 for her time on council starting after the fall election.

While remuneration is up over 2021, the report stated the total came in $11,000 under budget.
