The County of Wellington’s Taste Real program is accepting orders for their Holiday Farmers’ Market Boxes until Tuesday, Dec. 5, while supplies last. The Holiday Farmers’ Market Boxes feature a curated selection of local foods, beverages, crafts, and gift items from eight farmers’ markets across Wellington-Guelph.

This year, the award-winning Farmers’ Market Box series is offering two unique seasonal boxes to cater to different tastes. The two themed boxes include:
    •    Home for the Holidays: A selection of local products ranging from home goods to delicious seasonal treats and offerings.
    •    Holiday Treats: A box full of tasty treats and seasonal gifts from local vendors designed to satisfy holiday cravings or gift to holiday hosts.

The Holiday Market Boxes can be ordered online for $89 and will be available for pick-up (free) or delivery ($5) on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

“Our Holiday Market Boxes are a great way to discover new tastes and local products from all across Wellington County,” said Manager of Economic Development, Christina Mann. "Whether you choose to enjoy the treats and seasonal products yourself, or to gift them to friends and family, this is a great opportunity to support local businesses and have delicious food products delivered directly to your door.”

The festive season also sees the return of Taste Real’s Holiday Food and Gift Guide, an online resource that promotes local farmers, retailers, and artisans that have unique gift ideas, decorations, and ingredients for holiday meals.

“We are incredibly lucky to have so many unique food products and tourism experiences to explore in Wellington County,” commented Economic Development Committee chair, Jeff Duncan. “Thank you to everyone who is supporting local this holiday season, your investment in local food and farm businesses is helping us build a more resilient community.”

This year, the Farmers’ Market Box program has partnered with the Wellington County Social Services Department to further support access to healthy, nutritious food in a manner that is designed to maintain dignity, build health and community, and challenge inequality. When ordering a Holiday Farmers’ Market Box, individuals will have the opportunity to donate to the Market Bucks program which enables recipients to purchase food at Wellington County farmers’ markets.
