Elora Rocks get weekend win

WELLINGTON COUNTY – After a pair of losses, Elora Rocks are back on the winning side of things. 

Elora came out on top at a home game in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) on Friday evening. 

The Rocks were up against the Plattsville Lakers, who started out strong with two goals. However, Elora responded with five unanswered goals and would go on to cruise to a 9-4 victory. 

This win follows two losses in a row for Elora, who were the champions of the inaugural WOSHL season.

The Rocks are third in the rankings of the nine team league behind Tilbury and Tillsonburg. The team sits at nine wins and four losses.

Erin Blitz wasn’t as successful at home on Saturday with a loss to Stratford. 

The Blitz got the first goal of the game but would fall short to the Fighting Irish’s powerplay, letting in three shorthanded goals. 

Stratford went on to win 5-2. 

Erin Blitz are ranked last in the standing with two wins and 10 losses. 

It’s a two game weekend this upcoming Friday and Saturday for Elora. The Rocks are hosting Strathroy on Friday before going on the road to Tillsonburg the next day.
