Elora Rocks have dominant weekend with two playoff wins

ELORA – The Elora Rocks are getting closer to the final after two big wins in the playoffs over the weekend. 

The Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) semifinals began on Friday for the Rocks on home ice against the Stratford Fighting Irish. 

The Rocks had an automatic entry into the semifinals because they finished first, but Stratford won a best of three quarter-final series to secure the spot. 

It was a dominant weekend for the Rocks who started strong on Friday with a 4-2 win. Elora won a blowout 11-2 game the next night on the road, which included eight unanswered goals through the first and second period.

The best-of-seven series resumes this weekend with a Friday match in Elora at 8:30 p.m. and again on the road in Stratford on Saturday for Game 4.

In the other semifinals, the Tillsonburg Thunder is up two games on the Strathroy Jets.
