ELORA – The Elora Rocks secured a spot in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) finals after a two-win weekend.

The team won four straight over the Stratford Fighting Irish in the semi-finals to knock them out of contention.

On Friday, the Elora Rocks put on a dominant performance at home despite the Fighting Irish scoring the first goal. Elora went on to score eight unanswered goals for an 8-1 win which put them up 3-0 in the series.

Stratford put up a stronger fight on Saturday on their home turf, keeping up with Elora and briefly taking the lead in the third period.

However, Elora scored two late goals to take the win 4-3 and take a place in the WOSHL finals.

The Rocks will be facing the Tillsonburg Thunder, who also won four straight in the semifinals against the Strathroy Jets.

This will determine the WOSHL’s first championship team in its inaugural season.

The schedule for the final series is still to be determined.
