FERGUS – The Western Ontario Super Hockey League Sleeman Cup between Elora and Tillsonburg remains deadlocked.

The Elora Rocks and Tillsonburg Thunder played two games this weekend and both teams scored a win on home ice, the same result as the weekend prior bringing the series to 2-2.

It started Friday at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex in Fergus, Elora’s home ice for the finals, where the home team just eked out a victory in overtime.

A remarkable save by Rocks goalie Colin Dunne during this game was caught on camera by 519 Sports Online. Tillsonburg’s Jake Brown came up Dunne’s left side when the goalie hit the floor but pulled his stick up behind his back to block Brown’s shot.

The first period was scoreless but Elora scored three to Tillsonburg’s one in the second period. Tillsonburg turned it around and scored three to Elora’s one in the third, sending the game to overtime.

Elora’s Jacob Black was able to bring home the win 5-4, scoring an even strength goal just a few minutes into overtime.

On Saturday, Elora started strong at the Tillsonburg Community Centre with three goals in the first after Tillsonburg kicked the game off with an early goal.

The Rocks fell behind and were scoreless in the second but the Thunder scored four unanswered goals in the remaining period.

A late goal by Black wasn’t enough and Tillsonburg won in regular time 5-4.

The final series takes a break for Easter weekend but resumes on Friday, April 22, in Fergus for game five and Saturday April 23 in Tillsonburg for Game 6.

If a Game 7 is required, it will be played on Elora home ice on April 24.
