Elora Rocks' winning streak over after big loss to Stratford Fighting Irish

The team won at home Friday but couldn't pull it off on the road

ELORA – The Elora Rocks’ nine-game winning streak came to an end after a two-game weekend.

At their last home game of the year on Friday, the Rocks came back against the Tillsonburg Thunder 5-3 with a huge third period to win the game. 

After an even first period with both teams registering two goals a piece, the Thunder was ahead by one going into third. 

The Elora Rocks scored three goals in the final period to secure their ninth-straight win. 

At an away game Saturday against the Stratford Fighting Irish, the Rocks fell behind early and couldn’t recover losing 7-3. 

Stratford started strong with three goals in the first period to the Rocks’ two. Three unanswered goals by the Fighting Irish then sealed the game for them and a third period goal for the Rocks wasn’t enough.

The Rocks remain in first place in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League with 12 wins and two losses this season.

The Rocks last game of the year is on Friday Dec. 17 is in Strathroy versus the Jets before returning to home ice on Jan. 7 once again against the Jets.
